ARTISTS, SCHOLARS, ACTIVISTS SOUGHT FOR NATIONAL ARAB AMERICAN ARTS CONFERENCE

Dearborn, Mich. (Nov. 16, 2012) – The Arab American National Museum (AANM) is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals for 2013 DIWAN: A Forum for the Arts, taking place at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, April 5-7, 2013. Scholars, artists and activists are welcomed to submit, and all artistic mediums will be considered. Proposals should relate to the development, current work, aesthetics and/or identity of Arab American art or artists.

The proposal submission deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.

Applicants are asked to submit a one-page titled abstract, along with full name; contact information including email, cell number and street address; resume or CV; technical needs; and content on CD-ROM, DVD or in a slideshow (10 images maximum), if applicable. These materials will not be returned.

Applicants may elect to 1) deliver a presentation as part of a panel designed by the AANM, 2) design and produce a multiple-speaker panel, or 3) deliver a five-minute slide show comprised of 20 images with narration, as part of a larger series of presentations.

A committee will review submissions and invite selected participants, who must submit a full-length paper to the AANM prior to the conference. Proceedings from 2013 DIWAN will be compiled and made available to the public and researchers.
